TO SEE TOO MUCH: Suspenseful psychological thriller fiction Kindle Edition
Social worker Carrie Riccioni is recovering from a heart attack, in a holiday home by the sea in Norfolk.
Allowed only light walking on the beach to regain her strength, Carrie is mostly confined to the cottage and, somewhat bored, begins to take an interest in her neighbours.
Watching from the upstairs window, she soon realises the small community of Miller’s Point is far from idyllic. There are tensions and strange goings-on.
But Carrie’s curiosity doesn’t go unnoticed. And not everyone is happy with her eyes on their affairs.
When someone goes missing, what prying Carrie has seen will become a matter of life and death.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 31, 2025i love going through the .99 cent books on amazon. some daft stuff in there for sure, but you also run into some new authors and good stories along the way. at .99 cents it doesn't hurt if you get a stupid one.
this story read like an episode of Midsomer Murders or Vera. the characters were well set up. i felt like i knew everybody, and had a pretty good mental picture of the locale. the story never got boring and i was surprised at the ending. it made perfect sense but for some reason i never saw it coming.
all in all it was a very enjoyable read for me.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2024The story started off a bit slow, but the characters were engaging. While the "twist" was not particularly surprising, some readers may still find the overall narrative enjoyable. It's a mixed bag, so opinions may vary.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another superb thriller from Mark West.
Whilst recuperating from a recent heart-attack, social worker Carrie Riccioni moves to her friend’s holiday home in Norfolk coastal town Seagrave for a few weeks, hoping the sun and sea-air will aid her recovery. With little to do other than daily gentle exercise, Carrie’s attention begins to turn towards the small community of Miller’s Point, where she quickly notices the tensions and suppressed emotions of the people who live there. When a young girl goes missing, Carrie’s curiosity becomes a problem to one of the residents, and hidden secrets are revealed, triggering a chain reaction of events that leads to death and madness.
This is the seventh suspense novel by Mark West and published by The Book Folks. All of the novels are stand-alone stories, and yet they all share the same qualities – likeable protagonists, immensely readable prose that you just can’t help but gobble up (just one more chapter…), thrilling suspense plots with more twists and turns than a dizzy rattlesnake, and a great sense of location (you really do feel like you recognise the places described). This one had elements of Hitchcock’s Rear Window coupled with The Lady Vanishes, as Carrie can’t help but look into the disappearance of vulnerable teen Flo. There was something about Carrie that I really liked, and her background as a social worker felt realistic and plausible. I’d love to see her mixed up in another dangerous adventure again in the future. There are plenty of red-herrings and subplots to keep the pace fizzing along, and the denouement completely wrong-footed me (as someone who reads a lot of crime thriller this is something that I can’t claim happens that often). To See Too Much is a wonderful read and I had a great time with it – I’d say it’s the perfect beach novel or something to sink your teeth into over a Christmas break – and it will appeal to readers who enjoy thrills, suspense and a modern take on the whodunit genre. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Cracking Thriller from Mr West
If you’ve been reading the work of Mark West to date, by this point you will know the drill. And ‘To See Too Much’ follows his blueprint for a thriller novel to a tee - strong relatable characters, a tasty mystery to solve, the ever-present threat simmering under the surface of the pleasant-sounding coastal town of Seagrave. All the notes are there.
I’m usually reluctant to use the term ‘a real page-turner’ since a comedian once joked “isn’t that the minimum requirement of a book?”, but I would unreservedly apply that term when describing West’s books. Once you’re in, you are in and will find yourself lost in West’s effortless journey through the dark domestic heart of a small town. I was particularly drawn to protagonist Carrie Riccioni, whose first-person narrative was compelling and captured the progress of a heart attack survivor subtly but effectively. She made for a great heroine - strong, intelligent but obviously vulnerable considering her condition.
The myriad of narrative threads make for a very satisfying whole. If you’re already a West fan, I’m preaching to the converted here. But if you’re a newbie looking for a strong thriller story excellently told, then ‘To See Too Much’ is as good a place to start as any. Recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Seagrave Welcomes You Again
Another solid thriller from the pen of Mark West set in his fictional town of Seagrave. Whilst it didn’t quite hit the heights for me as his previous books have done, this was more down to personal reaction to the characters than any dip in quality in West’s prose. A fast paced, compelling second half made up for an unusually slow-build first half.

5.0 out of 5 stars His best yet... A thriller with a genuine twist
I've been a fan of Mark West's books since the start. They're consistently good reads, but with this latest offering he's upped the ante.
A great story with a cast of characters you feel real affection for, and a killer twist with an emotional punch.
Great stuff.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another intriguing and engrossing thriller
Can you really be too nosey? Well Carrie finds out in this book. With twists and turns and wonderful characters, this is well worth reading.
Mark West is consistent in creating believable, enchanting characters and putting them in unusual and often terrifying situations, and not everyone survives (if you have read other Mark West Books, you will not be surprised by that piece of spoiler).
